About GPSoverIP GmbH
GPSoverIP’s roots date back to 1996. Even then, the focus was on developing innovative solutions to optimize logistics processes. In the early days, a pioneering partnership was formed with Blaupunkt, in which GPSoverIP enhanced Blaupunkt’s existing products with telematics-specific functions. Together with technologies from the PTV solutions ecosystem, this laid the foundation for approaching telematics not just in isolated instances, but holistically.
With the growing demand for comprehensive telematics solutions, a decisive step followed in 2003: Company management made targeted investments in in-house development and expanded GPSoverIP into a fully integrated development and production hub. Since then, comprehensive telematics products have been developed under the GPSoverIP umbrella—ranging from hardware and software to proprietary communication protocols. All systems are manufactured in Germany to the highest automotive and industrial standards and are designed for long-term availability, robustness, and precision.
A major milestone was the development of the patented GPSoverIP© protocol (DE 10 2004 035 330 A1), which forms the basis for high-density, high-speed data transmission via the mobile internet. Building on this, additional protocols such as DATAoverIP© and CANoverIP© were developed, which transmit a wide variety of data formats—from classic CAN/FMS/OBD bus values to K-Line, VDV300, J1708 to digital odometer data or vehicle-specific body information—with maximum security and performance. This has made GPSoverIP the industry leader in innovation, setting standards for the future.
The telematics products developed are marketed under the GPSauge and GPSeye brands and enjoy an excellent reputation in the market. In addition to its own technologies, GPSoverIP serves as a development partner for major corporations: examples include Deutsche Bahn (driver assistance systems for railcars), Audi (innovative transmission control for the TT), BMW (iDrive development), Rohde & Schwarz (protocol development for secure data encryption), Porsche (specialized solutions for motorsports), and many other well-known companies, some of which also use GPSoverIP technologies as OEM products.
The company’s high level of innovation has been recognized time and again. GPSoverIP has received the prestigious German Telematics Award—presented by ETM-Verlag in collaboration with DEKRA—on multiple occasions. Year after year, this award underscores that GPSoverIP’s products rank among the best and most innovative telematics solutions on the market—a strong signal, especially since DEKRA, as an independent testing service provider, enjoys the highest level of trust in the industry. In addition, Managing Director André Jurleit has received numerous honors, including the “Convergator of the Year” award from Focus magazine for exceptional entrepreneurial and innovative achievements.
Today, GPSoverIP GmbH stands for a unique combination of in-depth development, manufacturing expertise, and innovative strength. As a pioneer and shaper of the industry, GPSoverIP has been shaping the telematics market for decades—with solutions that not only reflect the current state of the art but also define how telematics must be understood today and in the future.
