Who and what is eligible for funding
Funding is available to road freight transport companies with heavy-duty commercial vehicles registered in Germany (3.5 metric tons or more). Subsidies are provided for investments in environmental protection and safety—such as telematics, driver assistance, and safety systems. Up to 2,000 euros per vehicle, with a maximum of 33,000 euros per company per year, as a non-repayable grant.
Important: Note the first-come, first-served principle
De minimis funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once the available funding has been exhausted, no further grant notifications will be issued—even if an applicant would otherwise have been eligible.
Risk of Incomplete or Incorrect Applications
Incorrect or incomplete de minimis applications will be rejected.
The review process may take several weeks. If a corrected application is resubmitted, the new application date will apply—with the risk that the funding may no longer be available at that time.
Frequently Asked Questions About De Minimis Funding
(Funding Program “Environmental Protection and Safety”)
How much is the De Minimis grant for 2026?
Under the 2026 de minimis grant program, companies can receive up to 2,000 euros per truck per year. The maximum total grant per company is 33,000 euros.
What happens if the de minimis application contains errors?
Incorrect or incomplete applications will not be approved. Processing may take several weeks. If you resubmit the application, the new receipt date will apply—with the risk that the funding may already have been exhausted by that time.
Do the funded measures have to be implemented immediately?
No. The measures may be implemented within the approved funding period. The binding deadlines are specified in the respective grant notification.
Is it possible to submit a de minimis application even without a community license?
Yes. Even companies engaged in own-account transport can apply for de minimis funding, provided they carry out road freight transport as defined in Section 1 of the Road Freight Transport Act (GüKG).
Is there a difference between de minimis and “Environmental Protection and Safety”?
No. Since 2024, the funding program has officially been called “Environmental Protection and Safety.” The term “de minimis funding” continues to be used throughout the industry and refers to the same program.
