2022 Year in Review
The year 2022 is already drawing to a close—it seems like time is flying by faster than ever.
We live in turbulent times, yet GPSoverIP looks back with satisfaction on a very successful year.
True to last year’s motto, “The key to success is focusing on goals, not obstacles,” GPSoverIP let nothing stand in its way and has once again successfully launched new innovations. Despite supply chain issues, we successfully unveiled the GPSauge OBD at IAA Transportation 2022, along with the connectivity features of the GPSauge mobile app. The response and feedback we received far exceeded our expectations. Thank you very much!
Also worth highlighting for 2022 are GPSoverIP’s municipal activities, which have increasingly expanded beyond national borders into the European region—the winter road maintenance sector, in particular, has been significantly expanded.
We wish you, your family, and your colleagues
HAPPY CHRISTMAS—may you enjoy happy and peaceful moments
. AS THEYEAR COMESTO A CLOSE, we thank you for your trust and loyalty
. FOR THE NEW YEAR, we wish you health, happiness, success, and continued fruitful collaboration.

GPS-Explorer Web General Update
GPS-Explorer web—the telematics portal from GPSoverIP—is a powerful application for managing your vehicle fleet.
In addition to performance and stability optimizations, GPS Explorer has been specifically enhanced in the area of order management. New options have been added for order and route assignment, such as alerts regarding scheduled stop, arrival, and departure times. Thanks to the additional status values, users can be notified directly via rules in the event of discrepancies. These additional values also enhance the order overview.
The order overview display has thus also received a new and intuitive enhancement to the traditional, classic tabular view (the visual order timeline). This allows additional data and all details to be captured and visually displayed with just a few clicks. You can switch back to the traditional, minimized data view at any time with just one click—and, of course, all recorded and expanded data is retained.
To populate the newly created timeline in the job overview with additional information (for example, regarding the status of ignition on/off, spreader on/off, slide valve down, door open/closed, etc.), the transmission logs have also been expanded. The new “Job Timeline” is located in the initial view of the job overview. It can also be displayed above the actual vehicle timeline, allowing users to grasp important information at a glance: When was a vehicle active? Which stop was completed, and which one is next? Are schedules being met, or is action needed? Were any route stops skipped? etc.
This new feature also offers attractive opportunities for third-party providers—which is why the corresponding APIs have been expanded at the same time. When making a query, third-party providers now also receive information on the remaining time at the location, departure time, arrival time, etc.
The general update will be released on December 22, 2022. No action is required on your part.
Note: A general update for the GPSauge IN1 will be released in early 2023 to include these enhancements, which will also provide additional fundamental integrations and features. We will, of course, keep you updated on this! If you’re eager to try it out, feel free to contact GPSoverIP Customer Support to receive the parts of this update that interest you ahead of schedule.

GPSauge Mobile Expanded
With the “GPSauge mobile” app for Android and iOS, you can turn your smartphone into another “GPSauge mobile” device. Thanks to the app’s ongoing enhancements, you can now—for example, when using the GPSauge MI6 BLE—create a link to send jobs or messages directly to your drivers. And that’s not all! Mobile departure checks, trip logs, scanning capabilities, and much more are also available to you through this connection, integrated with your installed GPSauge.
To use this feature, you must have the latest software version for your GPSauge MI6 BLE. Existing GPSoverIP customers will receive this enhancement plus the required MI6 BLE software update free of charge. Simply send an email to our GPSoverIP Customer Support (support@gpsoverip.de) with the subject line “GPSauge MI6 BLE Update” and provide us with the serial numbers of the devices that should receive the update, or just give us a call. We appreciate your interest.
The standalone “GPSauge mobile” app is primarily used by subcontractors and temporary drivers who are integrated into the company on a short-term or part-time basis and can optionally be integrated into the vehicle management system for the entire fleet with just a few clicks via GPS Explorer.
If you have any questions about the “GPSauge mobile” app, please contact GPSoverIP Customer Support or your account manager.

Start Check
The pre-trip inspection is not only a legal requirement for truck drivers; it also ensures a safe and stress-free drive, particularly in the freight forwarding sector. It enhances road safety, minimizes the risk of accidents, and contributes to the safe transport of cargo. Until now, the pre-departure inspection feature was only available as an integrated function to users of a GPSauge IN1. This is now changing, as—in conjunction with the GPSauge mobile app—all relevant checkpoints can also be addressed using the pre-departure inspection function with a GPSauge MI6.
You decide which items your checklist must include using the customizable configuration options. For example, your checklist in the “Wheels” category can include checkpoints such as “wheel nuts/bolts,” “tire condition,” and/or “valve caps.”
For the company, the GPSauge’s pre-trip inspection serves an important purpose: It ensures the quality of your fleet and maintains consistent operational efficiency by detecting vehicle defects early on, before more costly damage can develop. At the same time, it ensures the vehicle’s operational safety and minimizes the risk of breakdowns and accidents in a timely manner.

Third-Party Providers - Only One Portal Required
The browser-based telematics portal GPS-Explorer web allows you to integrate telematics products from third-party providers in addition to the GPSoverIP product line.
In the past, numerous third-party solutions have already been integrated, such as various trailer tracking solutions from well-known manufacturers like Thermoking, Schmitz Cargobull, Kögel, Schwarzmüller, and idem telematics. Additional third-party providers, such as Scania and Webfleet, have now been added and will be made available to GPSoverIP customers with the general update of GPS-Explorer on December 22, 2022.
This means you can visually display all your vehicles—regardless of whether they are equipped with a telematics unit from GPSoverIP or another telematics manufacturer—in the GPS Explorer. This means you won’t have to do without anything or work in two separate systems—you’ll have all the necessary information and specific telemetry data transmitted by the telematics hardware integrated into a single portal, such as trailer status, tire pressure, refrigeration temperature, brakes, etc.
Activation of already integrated third-party providers is available upon request. If GPSoverIP has not yet integrated a telematics device relevant to you, simply contact GPSoverIP customer support at +49 (0) 9721 796973 – 30

Telematics in Rail Transportation
GPSoverIP has been the telematics provider for DB Regio’s regional trains within Germany since 2017. The expansion of telematics in rail transportation is steadily progressing. Especially in times of energy and resource conservation, properly implemented telematics systems and their applications are indispensable. In the project with Deutsche Bahn, another key focus was on developing a driver assistance system that can significantly reduce diesel consumption.
Another project in the field of rail transportation is currently being developed in cooperation with ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways), tailored to ÖBB’s objectives and requirements. The focus of this collaboration is on reducing costs by improving efficiency through trip analyses conducted using the GPSoverIP telematics system based on the telemetry data collected.

Small Gift Package in the GPS Explorer Mobile App
As part of the updates across all areas of GPSoverIP’s telematics solutions, GPSoverIP has also hidden a small gift package in the form of an update for GPS-Explorer Mobile.
Over the course of this year, numerous enhancements and new features have been rolled out for the GPS-Explorer mobile app. Another development phase has now been completed, ensuring both solid and reliable stability and optimal performance while simultaneously closing security vulnerabilities. In addition, important groundwork has been laid behind the scenes, making the application virtually limitless in its scalability for new features and the continued growth of GPSoverIP telematics.
Furthermore, some refinements have been made specifically in the communication features, such as the message status indicator, which is initially available to iOS users. Similarly, text messages can now also be copied.
The new version for Android and iOS will be released in the Play Store and App Store around the same time as the planned general update on December 22, 2022. This means your little GPS-Explorer mobile gift package will be available just in time for Christmas—something you can already look forward to today.

Winter Road Maintenance Job Management
Thanks to the strategic breakdown within the Job App—specifically for the GPSauge IN1—it is now possible to focus even more closely on the individual trades and the tasks they perform. A detailed implementation has already been carried out in the Job App’s order application for the taxi sector.
Municipalities involved in winter road maintenance, in particular, can now also benefit from their own specially developed Job App. Key details of the individual areas of operation are now recorded in greater depth. In this regard, the snow removal and deicing application temporarily offers, among other things, the option to both create and start an order directly from the winter service vehicle, as well as to remotely initiate order transmission.
With the help of the winter road maintenance job app, not only are the original winter road maintenance activities—such as snow removal and deicing—recorded and stored, but other tasks as well, such as vehicle preparation and refueling, etc. In addition, the newly launched Job App displays specific status information in the job overview regarding the required snow removal and deicing report, ensuring that the entire winter service job is visually represented and documented in tabular form.
Winter service reporting has also been updated so that completely heterogeneous fleets—which use different protocols—are presented and documented in a uniform manner.
The new update will be released on December 22, 2022, featuring a newly added overview.
If you would like the Winter Service Job App, please contact our Customer Support at +49 (0) 9721 7969 73 50. The app is free for existing customers.

Standardized Evaluation for Winter Road Maintenance / DIN Standard EN 15430-1
GPSoverIP stands for comprehensive vehicle telematics and meets the needs of all industries, whether they include, for example, freight forwarders, taxi companies, highway maintenance departments and municipal depots, service providers, agriculture, rail transportation, or motorsports. In addition to general updates to the system and its functional scope, specific adjustments and enhancements are regularly made for the various industries and their individual tasks and workflows.
Currently, in preparation for winter, winter service activities for road maintenance departments, municipal maintenance depots, and local governments have been expanded, and the activity reporting—including the snow removal and deicing report—has been updated and expanded accordingly.
The newly revised analysis presents the data in a uniform and clear manner, regardless of the manufacturer of the winter maintenance system in use (AEBI Schmidt, Dammann, Epoche, Küpper Weiser, etc.). This means that, thanks to adjustments and integrations (including compliance with the DIN EN 15430-1 standard), the required documentation of the winter road maintenance activities performed is also automatically available.
This applies not only to body manufacturers or the winter road maintenance sector, but also generally to the operation of a mixed fleet (trucks, passenger cars, construction machinery, etc.). GPSoverIP takes into account and supports, among other things, heterogeneous fleets based on different protocols and identifiers from vehicle manufacturers across all areas of its operations; it standardizes and unifies these and presents the analysis clearly and concisely in GPS Explorer.
The newly revised winter road maintenance analysis will be made available with the upload on December 22, 2022.
